WINTER STRENGTH & CONDITIONING AT REAL FITNESS

EXCLUSIVE TO LAA

10-12 YEARS | FRIDAYS | 4:15PM - 5:00PM

FUN. COMPETITION. ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.

A five-week introduction to athletic development designed to help young athletes move better, get stronger, build confidence — and most importantly, have fun while doing it.

Coached by UKSCA-affiliate coaches in our private studio, each 45-minute session is limited to 8 athletes, creating a small-group environment where every athlete receives plenty of coaching, encouragement and opportunities to challenge themselves.

The programme follows a structured, progressive five-week block — but fun is at the heart of every session.

Through races, relays, reaction games, challenges and friendly competition, athletes develop the physical qualities that underpin long-term sporting performance — without it feeling like a traditional training session.

INTRODUCTION TO PERFORMANCE STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

As young athletes progress, the programme develops towards more advanced performance-based strength and conditioning.

Working in a maximum group of 8 athletes, each five-week block is structured and periodised to progressively introduce the physical qualities and technical skills required for athletic performance.

Olympic weightlifting elements are taught by coaches qualified to British Weightlifting Level 2, with a strong emphasis on technique, control and progressive development.

ATHLETES WILL BE INTRODUCED TO:

• Plyometric and ballistic training

• Developing Rate of Force Development (RFD)

• Improving reactive strength

• Acceleration and deceleration

• Agility and athletic movement

• Fundamental strength training exercises

• Compound lifting techniques

• Technical lifting principles

• An introduction to Olympic weightlifting movements

• Strength and conditioning strategies that support injury reduction

THE GOAL

To give young athletes the physical preparation, movement skills and technical foundations to progress confidently into more advanced strength and conditioning as they mature.

Small groups. Structured progression. Expert coaching. Long-term athletic development

EDUCATION FOR ATHLETES & PARENTS

We believe developing young athletes is about more than what happens during the training session.

Throughout the programme, we will help athletes — and educate parents — on the fundamentals that support healthy, sustainable athletic development.

We’ll explain why we train the way we do, and how simple habits outside the studio can make a huge difference to performance, development and injury reduction.

Topics will include:

🛌 Sleep & recovery — why rest is essential for growth, adaptation and performance

🥗 Nutrition & hydration — building simple, healthy habits that support training and development

⚖️ Training load — understanding the balance between training, competition, school and other activities

🎯 Quality over quantity — why more training isn’t always better, and why good-quality movement matters

🩹 Injury reduction — understanding the importance of preparation, technique, recovery and listening to the body

🏃 Training for the long term — developing athletes progressively rather than rushing physical development

🧠 Athlete awareness — helping young athletes understand their bodies, recognise when they need recovery and take ownership of their development

Our aim is to give young athletes knowledge as well as physical skills — while giving parents a better understanding of how they can support their child outside of training.

WE’RE NOT JUST BUILDING ATHLETES. WE’RE EDUCATING THEM FOR LONG-TERM DEVELOPMENT.
